Colts quarterback Philip Rivers takes a job as a HC in Alabama post retirement

Colts quarterback Philip Rivers takes a job as a head coaching job at St. Michael Catholic High School in Alabama post retirement

This year the Indianapolis Colts signed Philip Rivers to a one year deal worth 25 million dollars. Rivers was excited about his contract with the Colts and he was even more excited today when he accepted the head coaching position at St. Michael Catholic High School post retirement, according to TMZ Sports.

“It’s a special day for me and my family really,” the 38-year-old said. “I, um, I knew I was going to get a little emotional.”

“I had two childhood dreams. And one was to play in the NFL … and the other is to be a high school football head coach as my dad did. So, it’s an exciting day. It really is. I’m going, ‘Wow, how blessed am I to be able to live both of those out?!'”

Rivers was pumped up to accept this job today, because his Father was his high school coach.

“My dad was my high school football coach,” Phil said. “So I want to coach my boys and I want to coach young boys down the road.”

Rivers said he is taking it one year at a time right now in his press conference but remember he only signed a one year deal with the Colts, so technically he could be the head football coach as early as 2021.

“I’m taking it one year at a time,” Rivers said at his introductory news conference. “I feel great. If I feel like I feel right now next year, then I’ll be excited to keep going, again, depending on how the team feels about that.”
