2021 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Koby Adu-Poku, RB, Walsh University

Walsh RB Koby Adu-Poku recently sat down with NFL Draft Diamonds writer Jimmy Williams.

Tell us about your university/college. What was your major/minor? How is campus life?

Walsh University is a smaller division 2 school. My major is Government and Foreign Affairs (Pre-Law), with a minor in sociology, philosophy and peace studies. Campus life is very warm and welcoming and it is definitely a family atmosphere. 

What do your teammates say is your best quality?

Work Ethic 

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?

I see myself in a leadership role, I believe a spread that allows for me to be versatile in the running and passing game is what helps bring out the best in my game.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?

Ashton Dulin

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?

Antoine Holloway he is one of the most impressive and talented defensive backs i have seen, and his wisdom is beyond his years. 

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.

Haven’t had too many personal struggles but physical struggles such as injuries have always tested my character

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?

Wrestling I always wanted to get into it but was afraid of having to cut weight.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement? 

Having the experience of being a college football player. It has its ups and downs, but the lessons I have learned have carried over into multiple aspects of my life. 

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.

My freshman year against Alderson Broaddus. I had my whole family and some friends come to support me that game, and I played one of my best games. The most memorable play would probably be scoring on a sweep where I dove into the endzone and reached out for the pile on. By the time I got back on my feet my teammates were surrounding me and I looked up and saw my family cheering. 

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?

My favorite player is Saquon Barkley but I attempt to model my game as much as i can to Christian McCaffrey.

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?

Lil Uzi, Roddy Rich and Nocap get me hype for games

What is your favorite comfort food?

Seafood. I love going to Royal Grill Buffet in my hometown (Boardman OH) and eating all their seafood options. 

Do you have a favorite movie or actor?

Law Abiding Citizen and Lion King

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies?

Hanging out with friends and watching Netflix

Who or what motivates you the most?

Being the best at what I do, and also my parents. They have always inspired and pushed me to strive to be the best at whatever it is that I am aiming for. They have also helped me realize that in order to do so it requires an extraordinary amount of time and dedication.
