2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Kevin Thomson, QB, Sacramento State University

Kevin Thomson Sacramento State
Sacramento State quarterback Kevin Thomson has a huge arm and is ready to go down in Sac State history in 2020.

Kevin Thomson is a gunslinger who we need to take a closer look at. The former UNLV transfer has made a nice transition to the FCS and has really been one of the top quarterbacks in the Conference.

Thomson graduated from Riversdale High School in Washington after he led his team as a senior with 2,132 yards of total offense with 24 touchdowns leading his team to share a league title. After a stellar high school career, Thomson would land at UNLV.

In 2014, Thomson was a redshirt year for him, while in 2015 he was a reserve quarterback before transferring to Sacramento State.

It would not take long for Thomson to get off to a good start. Thomson would end up starting eight games for the Hornets and passing for 1,828 yards and 17 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He had a great season in 2017 which led to getting more playing time in 2018.

In 2018, Thomson would start seven more games. He would throw for 1,280 yards and 8 touchdowns to just one interception. He earned All-Big Sky academic honors this year.

Last season though is when Kevin Thomson blew up!

He was the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year after he threw for 3,216 yards and 27 touchdowns. He has been a really accurate quarterback for the Hornets and does a great job at running the offense. He finished third for the Walter Payton Award (Best offensive player in the FCS). He is second all time in school’s history in pass attempts, yards, passing touchdowns. I expect him to break tons of records at Sac State in 2020.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Expect Kevin Thomson to break records at Sacramento State this year. He has been a really solid addition for the Hornets and this year he will be ready to show the NFL scouts he can play at the highest level. The 6020 quarterback from Washington has been a beast. I think he can make any NFL throw and he can also kill your with his feet. He is pretty athletic as well. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds Owner
