Draft Diamonds Free Agent Interview: Jordan Phillips, Defensive Lineman

Jordan Phillips is a sound defensive lineman from Tarleton State who recently sat down with Justin Berendzen after going undrafted.

Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL and CFL teams and get a shot at being a career football player. So I hope you all read this interview with Jordan Phillips. 1.What do you do for fun?

I love to do puzzles, work out when I’m frustrated about something, video games, and cooking.

2.If you could pick one football player past or present to hang out with who and why?

Reggie White, Aaron Donald, and Patrick Mahomes. Reggie White and Aaron Donald because I would like to pick there brains about certain situation and pass rush techniques at the d line position. I would want to hang out with Patrick Mahomes because he just seems like a cool person to hang out with.

3.What is your favorite dessert?

Bread pudding, pecan ice cream, peach cobbler 

4.What is your mindset when you are on the football field? 

To dominate the person in front me. Every o line, quarterback, and running back to remember that 92 is a dominating force.

5.Most interesting teammate from anywhere you’ve played and why?

 With the teams I played with, there were so many personalities. I have wonderful memories with all of them. One person that sticks out from the rest is Breontae Mathews. He would always tell me what was on his mind in the funniest way possible. Every week, he would say something odd which made him hilarious.

6.What is your favorite tv show?

At the moment, my favorite tv shows are a tie with Flash, Hero Academia, and Ozarks.

7.If you were on a game show and won 100 thousand dollars what would you do with it?

First, I would pay off my student loans, second give some of it to my family, put a couple thousand in stocks, and save the rest for  a rainy day.

8.What made you decide you wanted to be a football player? 

Growing up, I always wanted to play football. I was always on the heavy side so I couldn’t play with kids my age. My mom decided I couldn’t play till I went to high school. I was always an aggressive kid. I tried everything to channel my aggression. The only thing that stuck was football.

9.Who do you model your game after?

My playing style is a mixture of Geno Atkins, Gerald McCoy, Warren Sapp, and Jurrel Casey. All four of them are athletic big men who shed blocks, defeat double teams, and creates havoc in the backfield.

10.What would a team get in a player like you?

Smart, aggressive, high motor, reliable athlete who will always be a student of the game

11.If you could live anywhere in the world where and why? 

Jamaica or anywhere near the Caribbean. I’m it looks so beautiful over there. I could sit in a hammock and drink out of a coconut everyday.

12. If you were an animal which animal would you be and why?

Lion because they attack off instinct better known as a apex predator. They protect there pride and are the kings of the jungle. When lions get in fights, they fight like they life is always on the line. That is why I would do for my team.
