Baltimore Ravens

Should the Ravens release Earl Thomas after his latest incident?

Nina Thomas mugshot after holding Baltimore Ravens safety Earl Thomas (her husband) at gunpoint for cheating on her with another woman.

I know Earl Thomas did not get arrested, and I know it was an incident concerning his wife Nina, but this is a serious issue. Earl Thomas made the post to lessen the blow so to speak when the media found out about it, but this makes the Ravens look bad.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens are now looking to see if Thomas violated his contract.

Why would a team check to see if you violated a contract? If they are looking into the player’s contract that means they would like to move on from him. According to the report, A team official reportedly told the Baltimore Sun on condition of anonymity that at times in 2019 Ravens coaches believed Thomas strayed from the “team” concept, and that he struggled to grasp the defense, putting him at odds with teammates.

What does that mean? Could the Ravens be ready to move on from Earl Thomas? If there is a way for the Ravens to void the 10 million dollars that is guaranteed from him I think they will definitely look into it.

Best Available Free Agents

There are some very good safeties available right now that could be had much cheaper than 10 million dollars. If the Ravens could cut him they could save money and sign a player or players to replace him.

Some free agents available right now at the safety position are Morgan Burnett, Tony Jefferson, Eric Reid, Reshad Jones, Tedric Thompson, Tavon Wilson, Clayton Geathers, Curtis Riley and Montae Nicholson. Are they the same caliber as Earl Thomas? Maybe not on the same tier but they will buy into the system and cost less. A win-win so to speak.

We will see what happens from here, but this is not looking good for the veteran safety.
