Nick Saban warns NFL teams not to pass on Tua, because he regrets passing on Drew Brees
Tua Tagovailoa is considered a top quarterback prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Alabama gunslinger has had a few injuries over his career, but his head coach Nick Saban is warning teams to not make a mistake like he did when he was with the Miami Dolphins.
He believes teams that pass on Tagovailoa will regret it the way he regrets not signing Drew Brees in 2006.
“We failed Drew Brees on the physical,” Saban told Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal. “That’s why he’s not Miami’s quarterback. I don’t think any of the questions with Tua have to do with his ability to throw the ball and be effective.”
In 2006, the Dolphins passed on Drew Brees and ended up signing Daunte Culpepper because Brees did not pass the medical test. It is kind of ironic now that Saban the former Dolphins coach is telling teams not to pass on Tua, as if the Dolphins could be considering a pass on his quarterback. It makes you wonder if the Dolphins are not sold on Tua.
