Imagine if the Bengals traded the first pick and signed Cam Newton?

Could you imagine if the Bengals did trade the first overall pick and signed Cam Newton?

Today, Miami Herald reporter Armando Salguero followed up on a recent report that the Dolphins are still trying to trade up to get the No. 1 overall selection in this year’s draft, with the goal to be landing LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.

Everyone has had the Bengals linked to Joe Burrow, but what if the Dolphins were willing to trade the Bengals all three of their first round picks to land the first pick, do you think the Bengals should do it?

I personally think the Bengals would be dumb not to trade their pick. Imagine this, The Dolphins trade three first round picks in 2020 to the Bengals so they can land Joe Burrow. The Bengals then turn around and sign Cam Newton to a three year deal.

The Bengals can trade Andy Dalton to whatever team wants him or release him. Then the Bengals can get ready for the draft.

They would have three first round picks, Pick 5, 18, and the 26. The Bengals could draft at five overall a weapon for Cam Newton. They already have AJ Green and Tyler Boyd, but add Jerry Jeudy to that mix now, giving Cam big time weapons.

So with the 5th pick – I give the Bengals Jerry Jeudy. The Bengals land the top wide receiver in the draft, and pair him with a recovering AJ Green and a solid Tyler Boyd.

With the 16th, pick the Bengals draft Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia – The Bengals land a starting offensive tackle to protect Cam Newton in the backfield.

With the 26th pick the Bengals draft Yetur Gross-Matos, EDGE, Penn State – The Bengals would help their pass rush by adding a 6050, 266 pound pass rusher to join Geno and Dunlap and Reader.

The Bengals also still have the first pick in the 2nd and 3rd round. So they would still have the 33rd pick and the 65th overall picks.

Imagine if they draft Kenneth Murray the linebacker with the 33rd overall pick, then follow it up by taking Jalen Hurts with the 65 pick? Hmm, they would have a back-up to Cam Newton, land a starting LB, starting Edge rusher opposite of Dunlap and the best wide receiver in the draft.

Do you think it is worth it? Or would you rather have Joe Burrow?
