Meet XFL Prospect: Andrew Verboys, WR, Team 9

Andrew Verboys has officially made the XFL but he will serve on the Team 9 roster. The former small school wide receiver sat down with NFL Draft Diamonds writer Justin Berendzen for this amazing interview. With the XFL about to kick-off in early February, we wanted to start a segment to showcase some XFL prospects so the fans of the league can get some inside information on these prospects! What would an XFL team get if they brought a player like you in?

If an XFL team brought me in they would get a player that works very hard on the field and in the meeting room. They would get a tough, reliable slot receiver that catches in traffic, is quick with his routes,  not afraid of the hits across the middle and doesn’t take plays off. But Mainly they would get a kid that has a deep passion for the game, who wants to win and will do anything he can to help the team do so.

What is your favorite drink?

I drink a lot of water but my favorite drink would probably be an Arnold Palmer.

What is your favorite XFL rule?

My favorite XFL rule is how the overtime is set up in a shoot out style. Normal Overtime is already very intense but only getting a set number of 5 plays for each team makes it even more exciting for the player and the fans in my opinion.

What is your goal?

I’ve always been a kid that’s been over looked or told he can’t do things in football and I was slighted of an opportunity of playing at the University of Delaware, so my goal is to get an opportunity to show off my skillset at a highly competitive level and help whatever team picks me up win games.

What is your favorite dessert?

It’s a toss up between key lime pie and coffee ice cream. But I’ll go with key lime pie especially when it’s homemade by my grandma.

What is your dream car?

My dream car would probably be new version corvette. Through my Dads baseball days he got an 82 corvette so I grew up an American muscle fan I guess.

If you were an animal which animal would you be and why?

If I could be any animal it would be a lion. They are kings of the jungle what’s better then that.

What is your favorite thing about Delaware? 

My favorite thing about Delaware was probably just the university in itself and having the opportunity to carry such great relationships out of there. I have a great bunch of close friends from the team and I met my girlfriend at UD so I’m very thankful for the relationships Delaware gave me.

If you could live anywhere in the world where and why?

If I could pick anywhere to live it would probably be Florida at some point in my life. I love the west coast of Florida, I grew up vacationing there. But I’m family oriented as well so wherever my family is at the moment is good enough for me.

What is your favorite musical artist?

My favorite music artist is Drake, I like pretty much all of his songs.

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is Lone Survivor. Gives me goose bumps every time I watch it.

What is your favorite pregame meal?

My pre game meal is pretty simple. Two pieces of grilled chicken, half a plate of pasta with red sauce, one third plate of mixed veggies and water. Feel like that meal gives me the most fuel to play.
