2020 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Kentrez Bell, WR, Northwestern Oklahoma State University

Tell us about your university/college. What was your major/minor? How is campus life?

I’m a health and sports science major with a minor in sports psychology. Campus life was cool. Our dorm building was full of mainly the whole football team who lives on campus. So that helped our team get closer.

What do your teammates say is your best quality?

Leadership and the energy I bring. But as far as playing, footwork, and acceleration when u see the ball released.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?

I see myself as a role playing possession WR on a team.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?

My freshman year at UNK I played against Corey Ballentine. He played for Washburn and now plays DB for the NY Giants.

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?

Maurice Wright. He is a complete ball hawk wherever the ball is he is going to find his way to it, whether he has to go around you or through you. 

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.

The stroke my mom went through in 2018 was a big struggle for me because for some time they thought she wasn’t gonna make it through. It had me contemplating not going back to school. But my family kept me on the right track and told me everything will be fine at home I have to just pray and finish taking care of my business.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?

Basketball. I grew up playing basketball before I started playing football.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?

The position I am in and getting the chance to chase my dream at playing professional football. 

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career?

First drive of the game against Henderson State my junior season I had a one handed touchdown catch.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?

My favorite team is the Kansas City Chiefs. I’m From Kansas City. I try to model my game between a mixture of Randy Moss, and Stefon Diggs. 

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?

Drake, Montana of 300, DaBaby. I listen to “Game Of Pain” by Montana Of 300 before every game.

What is your favorite comfort food?

Anything my grandmother cooks. Honestly it’s hard to say, but I like Chinese food. 

Do you have a favorite movie or actor?

Kevin Hart. That man is hilarious.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies?

Play NBA 2K, working out, and play pick up basketball.

Who or what motivates you the most? 

My mom had a bad stroke in November 2018 and she’s recovering from that. She motivates me the most because I want to repay her for everything she did for me growing up a single mom of three kids working two jobs to provide for us.
