The Los Angeles Chargers are in almost every game, every week. They lose because of dumb turnovers and costly penalties. Philip Rivers is a great player but he is having a horrible season. The team does not want to bench him but they are not doing their team any justice.
Rivers on the year has completed 64.7 of his passes but he has been off badly. He is second in the NFL with 14 interceptions in 12 games. The only quarterback with more is Jameis Winston who has 20. There are rumors that the Chargers are eyeing a top QB prospect in 2020 so if that is the case, why not let Tyrod Taylor try to win?
I am a huge Tyrod Taylor fan. I believe in him, as a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, Tyrod is the type of player that does not make stupid and costly mistakes. Tyrod is a game-manager. Ok, you may not like that but who cares if you are winning?
Of the 14 interceptions, seven have come in the past two games against the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. Did you read that right? SEVEN INTERCEPTIONS in two weeks? Tyrod, only has 20 career interceptions and he has thrown the ball 1357 times.
In Tyrod’s three years as the Bills starter he only threw 16 interceptions to 51 touchdowns. I know he is not Philip Rivers, but he can manage a game well and if you do not turn the ball over you win the game. The Chargers defense is nasty, their offense has major playmakers. Their offensive line is suspect, but having a quarterback who can escape back their rather than a statue is going to help too.
I honestly feel the Chargers need to put in Tyrod and if they do they will win out.
PS – The Chargers have lost 8 games by less than a touchdown. I honestly feel they would be playoff contenders with a game manager. They finish the year with the Jaguars, Vikings, Raiders and Chiefs, and I honestly believe they could win every single one of these games with Tyrod starting.
