Two quarterbacks in college received death threats from fans after struggling

Tennessee QB Guarantano received death threats after struggling for Tennessee.

This is becoming a bigger and bigger problem in not just college football but every sport.

Two quarterbacks this week received death threats after struggling at their schools. This is not cool, but it needs to be addressed so we are talking about it.

Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano received death threats on social media, and people were even targeting his family, according to Guarantano.

“There were so many guys that were there for me throughout the death threats, the mean messages to the sister,” Guarantano said Saturday after leading Tennessee to a win over Missouri, bringing the Vols to 6-5. “They were all there for me and it really meant a lot. There were some hectic times for me and they were there for me every step of the way.”

Receiving death threats? Really, it is not fake, some people do this all the time and they need to be held accountable. Guarantano was not the only one, Penn State QB Sean Clifford had to delete his social media after receiving death threats this week. It became so bad Clifford had to delete his social media accounts.

“I usually delete it closer to games, but I completely deleted it after the Minnesota game,” Clifford told reporters. “It’s kind of sad to say, but you know how fans sometimes get. … It gets a little crazy. I was kind of, I guess, sick and tired of getting death threats and some pretty explicit and pretty tough-to-read messages.”

Here is my question, why are these players receiving death threats? This is not cool, but Clifford had to delete his Twitter and Instagram accounts because so many people were sending him vulgar messages and sending him death threats.

We have seen this in the NFL, we have seen this at the college level now, and people need to stop. In life you lose. It is normal, you cannot win everything. This is why we should not give out awards for 10th place. People forgot what it is like to lose. People cannot take a loss anymore, because we live in a society where everyone believes they should get a trophy for participating.

Guess what, I am sick of it, and people need to grow up. I feel bad for Clifford and Guarantano because everyone struggles in a game. You cannot win every game. I hope they rebound and clean the floor with their critics. Too bad this has to happen in 2019. Grow up football fans.
