Redskins need to trade OT Trent Williams and stock some draft picks

The Washington Redskins look horrible right now, and let’s face it they are not going to do any better if they had Trent Williams on their offensive line.  At this point, I feel the Redskins need to stock pile picks and get rid of Trent Williams.

While Trent Williams is a 31 year old offensive tackle, he is one of the better tackles in the NFL. There are teams out there right now that I feel would be more than willing to give up a first and maybe a 4th to land him.  I wanted to focus on several teams that I feel would make the trade for Williams right now. So let’s review a couple.

New England Patriots – The Patriots are starting Marshall Newhouse.  I am pretty sure you read that correctly, if you want to win and go to the Super Bowl again, now is the time. The Patriots can afford to drop a first round pick and a fourth round pick to land Trent Williams because after losing Trent Brown in Free agency this year they will get a 3rd round comp pick in return, so they are basically trading a first round pick for an All-Pro Offensive Tackle.  Patriots have to swing this trade, it makes the most sense for them.

Cleveland Browns – Yep, their offensive line has been garbage.  Baker is not looking the same this year, because his line is rough. The Browns want to win and if they want to win you give up a first round pick and then some.  The Browns are so deep in some positions maybe you trade a player and a first.  The Redskins need a wide out and Rashard Higgins looks pretty damn good.  Imagine them trading Higgins and a first to land an All-Pro tackle?

San Francisco 49ers – The 49ers are undefeated this year.  They are balling and let’s face it they need a left tackle.  Joe Staley broke his leg, and Trent Williams is a big boy that would help protect Jimmy G.  Shanahan knows Daniel Snyder being his father was the Redskins head coach for some time.  I am willing to be that if the 49ers came calling they could work something out.

Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles are a team that wants to win now, and that is not happening.  They need to protect their quarterback and if they do not do something quickly they could be playing from behind.  They have a stacked team on paper, but Howie is a wheeler and dealer, I could see him putting together a trade to land some help for his Offensive Line.

Miami Dolphins – I know the Dolphins just traded their young offensive tackle away for a king’s ransom, but imagine landing Trent Williams a 1st and a 2nd for Laremy Tunsil and Kenny Stills? I mean anyway you look at it the Dolphins would be crazy not to go after a veteran to protect for Josh Rosen.  The Dolphins are in a fire storm right now but they can trade away one of their three draft picks in 2020 to land an All-Pro Left Tackle.
