Patriots and Chiefs look like the best teams in the NFL

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs looked like a high powered offense, but do they have the best chance to win the AFC, or does the old man (Tom Brady) still stand in the way?

After just one week of football, it is pretty clear that the Chiefs and Patriots are two of the best teams in the NFL. Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes both looked like they were in the best playing shape of their careers. Mahomes was throwing the ball everywhere and Tom Brady looked like he was rejuvenated after his team signed former Steelers standout WR Antonio Brown.

According to SBD’s win total tracker The Patriots are scheduled still to win 11 games which would lead the AFC and Chiefs have 10.5. The Chiefs had an injury to Tyreek Hill in week one, but Sammy Watkins stepped up in a major way in week 1, and remember they drafted MeCole Hardman, who has the ability to tear up the NFL.

The Chiefs had 491 total offensive yards in week 1, While the Patriots had 465. The Chiefs put up a 40 burger on the Jags, while the Patriots hung 33 on the Steelers Both teams dominated on offense.

The Patriots on the other hand, are stacked. Today they traded WR Demaryius Thomas to the Jets for a 2021 sixth-round pick and let’s face it Thomas was not going to see the field after the team landed Antonio Brown. The Patriots wide-outs looked rough in the beginning of the year but now they have Julian Edelman, Antonio Brown, Josh Gordon, Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers, and Gunner Olszewski. This is a great group of wide receivers.

The Chiefs have depth on all sides of the ball too, I just think their secondary and linebacking core is still their weakness. The Chiefs are going to be able to score on teams all day long, but will they be able to get past the Patriots?

I still feel deep down inside, the Patriots are going to talk Rob Gronkowski out of retirement when we get closer to the playoffs. Gronk gets to rest all year and boom he comes back to make another run at the Super Bowl.

What do you think? Was there a team that looked better than the Chiefs or Patriots?
