Melvin Gordon is on the trade block, and these three teams could use him

Could Melvin Gordon be an upgrade on these three teams? I feel he would be but do you think he is worth what the Chargers are asking?

The NFL season is about to start, and one player still waiting to cash in on a big pay day is Melvin Gordon the running back of the Chargers.  After Zeke Elliott was paid 90 million this morning, Gordon is going to want a huge paycheck and last night Josina Anderson of ESPN stated that the Chargers are looking for at least a first round pick from this year OR a first round pick in 2021 and a 5th round pick from this year.  With that being said, let’s list three teams we could see going after Melvin Gordon. I do not think any team will give up a first round pick, but what do I know.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Buccaneers have Peyton Barber etched in right now as their starter.  They have Ronald Jones III as a back up and the TJ Logan who they just claimed off waivers and Dare Ogunbowale.  This team could use a running back more than ever, but I am not sure if Jason Licht would be willing to give up a first in 2020.  I could however see him giving up a 2nd and 5th.  This would be a great landing spot for Gordon, because he would become an immediate starter.

Green Bay Packers – The Packers do not do much to help their starting quarterback.  I like Aaron Jones but they are very weak at the running back position. They have Jamaal Williams and Dexter Williams on their roster, but neither are Melvin Gordon.  Gordon would become a weapon for Aaron Rodgers out the backfield, and I could see them giving up a draft pick to get him.  Maybe a pick from next year and a pick from this year.

Jacksonville Jaguars – This is my sleeper team.. The Jaguars have Leonard Fournette I know, but if the Chargers trade Gordon who do they have behind him? Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson are both similar backs. Quick, scat back types but not guys who can punch the ball across the line in short yardage downs. Last year, the Jaguars had a headache with Fournette, but could they deal him with a draft pick or two to the Chargers to land Gordon?  This would be an upgrade for the Jaguars and the Chargers would land a solid running back in return.
