Diamond Talk: John Daka, DL, James Madison University | An edge rusher with speed

JMU pass rusher John Daka is a force off the edge and is trouble for opposing teams quarterbacks.

John Daka was a standout in high school as a senior. He was DMV’s Elite First Team All-Maryland Team, Defensive Player of the Year, and helped Wise go undefeated and play in the Championship.  Daka finished his senior year with 28 sacks.

As a Freshman at JMU, Daka played in 13 games racking up 19 tackles and 1.5 tackles of loss.

As a Sophomore, Daka played in 9 games finishing with four tackles and 1 sack.  His first career sack came against William and Mary.

Last year, Daka was a force for the Dukes. He played in 13 games, and finished with a huge year. He gathered 47 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.  He also had a safety, 9 QB hurries and two forced fumbles. He was tied for first in the CAA in sacks and tied for second in tackles for loss.

This year, the 6020, 235 pound Daka is looking to catch the eyes of NFL scouts. He was named a preseason first team All-American by Hero Sports and is looking to finish with a huge senior campaign.
