I feel bad for Zay Jones, the people closest to him are making it hard for him

I like Zay Jones but I feel bad for him.

Zay Jones was the Bills leading receiver last season, but the former East Carolina wide receiver has not really been the most reliable wide receiver. Jones has struggle with drops throughout his career.

Last year alone Zay Jones had 5 dropped passes, and had a drop rate of 4.9%.  That is not really that bad considering he was thrown to 102 times.  Jones has talent and it seems like the people closest to him are the ones making it the hardest for him. He has pressure but it is not from the coaches or his teammates.

He has been the Bills best wide receiver but since his arrest in 2018 where he tried to jump out of a building in Los Angeles butt naked, the love from the fans has changed a bit for him. The Bills were great in his debacle.  I mean if it had not been on TMZ Sports showing Zay running down the hall naked it would have been kept in house. The Bills did not shame him, they did not take him out the lineup.  They stood behind him and really did not mention it again.

Many were rooting for Zay Jones and his success in Buffalo, but Jones family is not making it easier for their son.

Jones Mom posted a picture of Marquise Goodwin and Sammy Watkins last night on Twitter account saying “One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Treasure.”  I am not sure what she is meaning by this unless she knows something Bills fans do not.  Her husband Robert Jones the former Dallas Cowboys linebacker retweeted the photo and also took a jab at the Bills Mafia for calling out Cole Beasley after he dropped a pass.

I am an avid Bills fan and I did not see one media outlet call out Beasley for the drop, or a fan for that matter.  I am not sure if Robert Jones was just trying to stir up the fans but it worked. When I woke up this morning Zay Jones was trending on my Twitter page.  The fans in Buffalo are passionate, and I feel they had respect for Zay Jones but his family is starting to get to the fan base. .

Remember Zay Jones Mother called out Kelvin Benjamin then had Zay apologizing for his Mom’s comments.  Sometimes parents need to stay out of their kids lives because they just make things worse.  I feel Zay would have been fine and would not have been trending if his parents would have just stayed out of the matter.  I will say this though, I am not going to just throw his family under the bus. I want to throw another person under the bus for the growth of Zay Jones.

I feel Phil McGeoghan, has to be in the mix of someone to blame. He knew what he was doing all along. He was in the NFL with the Dolphins for several years as the assistant wide receivers coach then was given the Dolphins WR’s coaching position in 2015. He made it one season before getting let go. He latched on at East Carolina University and found his ticket.

McGeoghan was the wide receivers coach for Zay Jones at East Carolina and rode Zay’s coat tails back to the NFL.  McGeoghan was hired by the Buffalo Bills who would eventually draft Zay in the second round.  Then after just one year with the Bills he quickly left the Bills and joined the Chargers leaving the Bills with Zay and the family. The Bills since have let Zay try to become their number 1 receiver and realized that was not going to work. This year in the off-season they signed three wide receivers in free agency.  They could not have been satisfied with Zay Jones, and while he is a versatile wide receiver he seems like outsiders are running his life.

I am not sure if the family and former coach know what they have done to the young pass catcher.  Jones has talent is a good kid and seems like a very solid and productive receiver, but he has a lot of drama in his life.  The family continues to make stupid comments, putting their son behind fire from Bills fans, and his former coach used him as a pawn to get what he wanted. I am not sure who Zay Jones agent is but I am sure he is shaking his head, especially after all the clean-up he has to do with Zay’s family.  I feel bad for Zay Jones, he is a good player and deserves better.

In my opinion, Zay Jones will never be able to fully recover from this until he steps up and perfects his craft. Stop living for others, go out and live for you.  Otherwise, you will be apologizing for everyone around you instead of working on what makes you millions.
