Houston Texans should call these 5 teams to find a veteran RB with Lamar Miller out

Lamar Miller getting hurt was a huge blow to the Houston Texans. While the Texans have Duke Johnson on their roster, I could see them making a move to sign another veteran back to help him out. If I am the Texans GM, I get on the phone and call several teams to see if these running backs are available. I think all can be had for the right price. Right now the Texans NFL betting odds are not looking good after losing their star running back.

Lesean McCoy, RB, Buffalo Bills– The Buffalo Bills have some depth at running back. They signed Frank Gore, and TJ Yeldon in free-agency and then drafted Devin Singletary. Christian Wade has emerged and they have Marcus Murphy on their roster as well. They have some depth and I feel Shady McCoy could be had for the right price. The Texans could use a back like Shady and it may make sense. Remember the Texans former GM is on the Bills staff.

Matt Breida, RB, San Francisco 49ers – The 49ers are stacked at running back as well. Breida has been a stud since entering the NFL and the team went out this year and signed Tevin Coleman. The 49ers have super depth and even paid Raheem Mostert who has been performing well in pre-season. Breida may not be available but I would at least call to find out.

Carlos Hyde, RB, Kansas City Chiefs– The Chiefs have Damien Williams and with the emergence of Darwin Thompson, I could see the team moving on from Hyde. Hyde was once a workhorse back in the NFL but has really struggled the past couple years. I could see Hyde getting cut, so this could be a guy you can pick up cheap. I would make the call if I was the Texans GM. 

Rex Burkhead, RB, New England Patriots – Patriots are stacked at running back and they drafted a back early. Michel and White are going to be dogs in New England and Burkhead maybe the odd man out. I could see Burkhead helping Watson out in Houston. He and Duke are similar backs but together on the field they become weapons in the passing game.

Giovanni Bernard, RB, Cincinnati Bengals– I could see the Bengals moving on from Gio Bernard. They have Joe Mixon and are hoping he takes over as the star back. Bernard has been a force in the past, and while he is sitting on the bench more that is good for the Texans. The guy should be in the best game shape of his life.
