What prospects have the best shot at winning OROY?

I would not be surprised if Chiefs rookie WR Mecole Hardman wins the OROY!

So far this pre-season there are several rookies who are having a solid start to their NFL careers.

Many NFL betting sites have Kyler Murray as the player with the best odds to win the award, but the Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback has not looked that great in the pre-season. I know there is still a lot of season left, but I want to focus on three guys who have really looked great this pre-season, and I feel will have a real chance at winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Mecole Hardman, WR, Kansas City Chiefs– If you have watched the pre-season after two weeks this kid looks legit. He is stupid fast, has great hands and is hard to cover. The Chiefs already have one of the most exciting offense’s in the NFL now add in one of the fastest players in the draft and teams are going to struggle to cover them. You have to worry about so much in KC. You have Kelce, Watkins, Tyreek Hill and now Hardman. This guy has to be on the list for OROY.

Josh Jacobs, RB, Oakland Raiders – Who is going to run the ball in Oakland? That is the question. If Josh Jacobs does end up getting the rack of the carries he could easily become a favorite for OROY. He is a big back with speed and in the redzone, I think he can cause damage. The Raiders are going to score this year, they have weapons on the outside with Tyrell Williams and Antonio Brown. Jacobs will get chances at the goal line much like Mark Ingram did last year and I feel he will capitalize on his opportunities.

David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears– I know this is a sleeper pick but let me tell you something, this kid is the real deal. The Bears will be splitting time with Montgomery and Tarik Cohen. Cohen is a speedster and Montgomery is a workhorse type. This is a great one/two and I feel the Bears will not miss a beat after trading Jordan Howard. Montgomery is a player I feel will score 5 plus touchdowns.

Players to stay away from

QB Kyler Murray, QB Dwayne Haskins and RB Darrell Henderson. It is extremely hard to transition to the NFL for quarterbacks and while I feel they will be fine long term, I do feel this year they will struggle with game speed. Henderson on the other handis on the Rams and I am not sure he will get the carries and production people hoped for.

Player to pay close attention to

TE Tommy Sweeney of the Buffalo Bills. The Bills do not have a clear cut tight end number one and Sweeney has been super impressive in the pre-season. Josh Allen has had two pretty touch passes to him and gained 40 plus yards. I think Sweeney will get the opportunity to take over as the starting TE, so he is playerto keep an eye on.
