Diamond Talk: Mason Kinsey, WR, Berry College | Meet Julian Edelman 2.0

Berry College wide out Mason Kinsey is a player we love at NFL Draft Diamonds. He will turn heads and I would not be shocked if he ends up at an All-Star Game to rep his little college in Rome, Georgia!

I love finding small school diamonds and one player that scouts will be stumbling upon soon is a wide receiver by the name of Mason Kinsey.  Mason is a 6’0 wide receiver from Demorest, Georgia that has NFL scouts talking right now.

His 33 touchdowns in the past two years have NFL teams turning their heads.  He has 138 career receptions heading into his senior season with 2,122 yards and 34 touchdowns and he is averaging 15.4 yards per reception.  Kinsey can stretch a field and he is one of my favorite sleepers in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.

When NFL teams ask me about his will, I refer back to his 7th grade year where he tried out for his basketball team and was cut. It was his first year ever playing basketball and he was axed by his coaching staff and that was not normal for him. He was used to being the best athlete but did that stop him? HECK NO!

Kinsey would end up going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and ended up making his 8th grad basketball team.  He ended up as the third leading scorer in the county, and played Varsity ball averaging 12 points per game as Junior and 18 points as a Senior.  This is what you look for in a player.

Julian Edelman is considered the best slot player in the game, and while he could not play the quarterback position that he played his entire life he made the transition to WR and is now known as one of the best slots in the game. You never let a bump in the road define you.  I love this kid and I expect a huge season in 2019.

Everyone loves and underdog story, so let’s talk about how many offers he had coming out of school.  If you guessed he did not have a school offer him you would have won.  He landed at Berry College last minute after signing day.

When I look for players I look at film, and then I go to heart.  If you have heart it is hard to go against you when you play the game at a high level. Berry College has a stud in Mason Kinsey and I feel NFL scouts are going know who he is and where Berry College is by the end of the year.

PS – Berry College is in Rome, Georgia scout friends!
