NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Report: Andrew Thomas, OL, University of Georgia

Andrew Thomas from Georgia is one of the best players in the NFL Draft.  His film was broke down recently by Bryan Ault our newest member. Make sure you follow him on Twitter!

NFL Draft Diamonds newest addition Bryan Ault has joined our scouting team and he put together this quick scouting report on Georgia offensive lineman Andrew Thomas.

  • Andrew Thomas
  • Georgia – OL
  • Height: 6’5”
  • Weight: 320
  • Exposures: Alabama (2018; SEC Championship)

Playing History: Thomas has started for the past two years, including 15 games as a true freshman.  During his freshman season he played at right tackle and shifted to left tackle during his sophomore year.  He has earned numerous awards, including placement from All American Teams by ESPN, USA Today, and the FB Writers of America.  He is a graduate of Pace Academy (Atlanta, Georgia).

Report:

Great size and strength with excellent arm length and athleticism to be a future pro.  Played well as a sophomore against a strong Alabama team in the SEC Championship.  Is very instinctive; can react quickly to twists and stunts, and has a quick first step and get-off.  Plays with a wide base, has tight and violent hands, and keeps defenders between his feet.

Improvements: Could roll his hips through blocks more.  Sometimes gets bulled back with a strong first punch, but does a good job of re-working his hands.  A bit of a waistbender and susceptible to pass rush moves against more developed NFL defensive linemen.  Has time to improver his weaknesses, however, and has plenty of upside and should improve with NFL coaching and more collegiate experience.
