5 NFL trades we’d love to see happen before the start of the season

Kiko Alonso joining the Chiefs makes too much sense.  I think this is the trade to watch out for.

The NFL season is just a few days away and let’s face it we need some trade news.  We love trades that happen and we hope and pray things happen all the time.  I wanted to showcase five trades that we’d love to see happen before the start of the regular season.

Jadeveon Clowney, DE, Houston Texans traded to the Miami Dolphins – for a 2020 3rd round pick, a 2021 2nd round pick and WR Devante Parker.  The Dolphins have depth at the wide receiver position and they have stacked draft picks for the 2020 season. They traded Ryan Tannehill for a 4th round pick, they landed a sixth for Robert Quinn and have a 7th from the Chiefs for DB Jordan Lucas.  Add in they lost Ja’Wuan James and Cameron Waek in free agency and will likely land a compensatory pick or two.  The Dolphins can afford this and they land a premier pass rusher. This move makes a ton of sense.

Mohamed Sanu, WR, Atlanta Falcons traded to the Detroit Lions – The Falcons are short on cap space and by getting rid of Sanu they pick up quite a bit of paper.  The Lions have been looking for another big and solid wide out who has versatility. They have Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, but if they added Sanu they can move the three around and help their franchise QB, especially with the addition of TJ Hockenson. I could see the Lions trading a fourth round pick to the Falcons to land Sanu.

Andre Smith, OT, Cincinnati Bengals traded to the Houston Texans – The Texans are desperate and need a stop gap offensive lineman. Smith is 32 years old but he is sitting behind Bobby Hart and Cordy Glenn right now. Smith can probably be had for a late round pick. I think the Texans would be happy to land Smith for a late round pick.

Trae Waynes, CB, Minnesota Vikings traded to the New York Giants – The Giants could use a cornerback and Trae Waynes is sitting in a stacked secondary. The Vikings drafted Mike Hughes and Mackensie Alexander.  They have Xavier Rhodes still as well, and I think the Giants who are paper thin at the position would be smart to make the call. I could see the Giants trading a 5th round pick to the Vikings for Waynes.

Kiko Alonso, LB, Miami Dolphins traded to the Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs are smart and adding Kiko Alonso makes way too much sense for them. The Chiefs have Reggie Ragland at Mike but the Cuban Missle is a player I could see that would dominate with the Chiefs defense. The Dolphins are looking to give him away as well, so I could see them getting only a sixth back in return for him. The Chiefs would be nuts not to make this move.
