XFL Diamonds Defensive Backs For The XFL Combine & Draft by Matt Anzio

Self discipline dedication the willingness to do whatever it takes. Those are just a few of the attributes this group of potential XFL DB’s possess.  Every DB in this article is a Pro plain & simple proven ready to work with the tools to get the job done!

  • DB Devion Young
  • Kentucky State University
  • Height : 6 ‘ 2
  • Weight : 208 lbs

Youngs Desire To Play Pro Ball Has Taking Him Across The Sea & Back.

He is just getting started, the fight in this talented tough  hard working DB is special. Not many guys really live the grind  like the guys i tend to feature. Young is no exception as he does everything in his power to make his dream a reality.

Physical whether in the box can hunt down backs or Tight ends or can cover both off & man coverages.

Plays the ball like Tiger Woods in his prime closing in disrupting the play getting his hand on the ball. He is a special teams gamer that understands lane control has the size, speed & quickness to get to the returner cut him off drop him to the dirt.

Special teams ace   can really add to a team in that dept with plenty of time under his belt hunting down returners like a Lion hunts a Gazelle.

After a fantastic college career at Kentucky State he got a shot playing in Poland . Where he played both DB & RB while there . After that he had a tryout with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before he wound up with the BismarkBucks of the Arena League.  Now he went onto Juventude Brazil as a FA then finally claimed off waivers by the N.Y. Streets.

So you see what the determined player chasing their dreams have to go thru & Young embraces it. Keeps grinding globe trotting looking for a home a team he can grow with & the XFL makes sense.

Why he has not received a Tryout or Showcase is beyond me but can tell you they need to take a look at Young.

Has coverage, tackling, ST even RB experience it’s fair to say Young as alot to add to an XFL team.

  • DB   Glenn Harris
  • Wayne State College
  • Height : 6’0
  • Weight : 195 lbs

Like Lightning In an Electric Storm Harris Strikes Fast With Intensity.

Talkin bout a 4,3 Forty DB prospects with the size length power & intelligence to be a true Free safety at the XFL level.

Participated in the Spring League looking legit killing it as an FS & CB in drills. Playing both men & zone holding his own against some skillful top flight wide out’s consistently.

The instincts combined with his smooth explosive body movement ball reaction & elite athletic attributes. Harris brings a determination work ethic & coachability to the table.

His backpedal is fluid transitions laterally particularly well from run to pass without batting an eye. His recognition of plays not biting on the fakes & tackling technique make him a well rounded DB.Playing  free safety takes a certain type of player. Believe Harris has all the needed experience & talent to the position. Doesn’t mean he can’t easily line up in the Strong Safety or Nickle. Even ran stride for stride on the  outside as a CB throughout Colleges & more recently TSL.

There’s not much he can’t do in secondary but  when you find a true FS think that’s the best way to use him.

As a true FS the XFL should lock him up  before the draft even. When you find a prospect thats a physical workhorse that can run with the fastest. With the tackling blitzing attack style to match his coverage skills. No reason to wait he should be a priority for all teams.

  • LaShaun Sanders
  • Capital University
  • Height : 6 ‘1
  • Weight: 195 lbs

Sanders Is One Of The Best Outside Corners Available.

Career of 30 games he played in with a total of 134 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 INT, 22 PBU, 2 FF & a blocked PAT.

A  2017 All OAC Conference Corner, 2018 Preseason All American , a 2019 Draft Prospect ( Draft Diamond) as well as ranked a top 100 best Free Agents by( Free Agent Football).

Some of his best games included against Muskingum University 9/17/16, vs Wilmington College on 9/24/16, vs Number 11 John Carroll 10/21/17 & against Marietta College on 9/8/18.

After the draft he has been working hard put on 17 lbs of muscle & training hard. Got a shot with the Columbus Destroyers much like the above mentioned Devion Young.

His numbers where as such :  Forty 4.55 Short Shuttle – 4.28      Broad Jump – 9’ 2 “ with an L drill of – 6.85.  Having a nice showing for a nice sized corner but it’s a deep group over the last couple years.

He  is now working towards his fall The Spring League Showcase to get that opportunity before October’s draft.

Love is coverage cover skills  has the size speed & intensity to play on the outside. Whether that be the X or the Y position. He has played both Zone/ Man & let me tell you gets in the way off the pass like a chaperone at the prom.  Can be a PBU or pass deflection king at the next level just needs an opportunity in a camp bet he will prove my praise to be word.

Outside, closing or catch up skills that every NFL team will need to have ready at all times. Look for Sanders to crush any chance he gets at his XFL dream. This DB can ball cover & hit with time on both the right & left side. Like above mentioned played off & man so he has the numbers the experience to be a first tier talent in the XFL. Seattle not a bad landing spot or NY should take a gander.

  • FS/DB  JJ Dallas
  • Louisiana – Monroe   ULM
  • Height: 6’ 1
  • weight: 195 lbs

Dallas Is A Bonafide Number One Corner For The XFL.

The DC of his  College team didn’t  move him from that number one position because it was  locked down by Dallas’s explosive physical tight play.

Just destroy a wide outs ability to make the catch. Blasting in with the timing & power needed to be the top dog. Transitions  well explodes on the ball almost like a DB playing for Saban.

Intense is the name of the game Dallas brings it giving everything he has on every play. Why he is entrusted to hold down the number one spot every play in every game. Timing to break up the play get his hands on the ball or cause a distraction.

Facing wide outs like Penny Hart, Anthony Miller & Malcom Williams during his career at ULM. So he has been tested time & time again.

He is a hard nose tackler & fantastic in coverage, Can’t imagine what else the XFL needs in the way of young corners to develop.

Reads the QB eyes well puts himself in good position to make the play. With exceptional timing to close down passing lanes. Instinctual ball hawk that studies his opponents routes & breaks up passes on the regular.  Looks tight in man coverage as well as closes space in zone situations.

Every guy in this article can tackle & Dallas is no exception hammering WR’s & RB’s to the ground with his incredible tackling prowess.

  • DB Zedekiah Brown
  • West Georgia
  • Height : 6’ 0
  • Weight: 200 lbs

Browns Journey over The Last Year Has Taken Him Some Exciting Places & He isn’t Done Yet.

A Swiftly moving strong hard hitting record breaking Safety NIckle prospectfrom West Georgia. Has been on quite a journey over the last year & his determination love for football has not wavered one smidge.

At West Georgia Brown is the leader in most INTs returned for a score with 5. Had a career in 53 games he played in had 188 tackles, 8 TFL, 17 PBU, 3 sacks, 8 INT, 3 FF, 23 TD’s & the 5 TD’s.

After school without a pro day he attended the ANC combine the now partnered with the XFL combine. He did well with a Forty – 4.49 & 4.44, Broad – 9’ 8”& an L drill – 6.89 think he really showed a taste of what you are getting in Brown. He had a Pro Football Index of 8.83 with  Speed – 9.27, Quickness – 10.00 & Strength: 8.10 .

Had a couple tryouts with the Saints & the Lions eventually wind up in the CFL on the Ottawa Redbacks on the practice squad in 2018.  So there’s no doubt he is a pro in a DB saturated market can hope his talent & drive to keep on fighting is enough to make it on a XFL squad.

Timing awareness understanding of offensive plays & routes to disrupt the pass. Strong tackler in the run game & the type of DB that can be a factor on DB blitz packages.

Dominate the middle of the field or in the slot not only wide out’s but RB’s Tight Ends he can close down lanes like Chris Christie during rush hour.
