NFL Draft, NFL Trade Rumors, Scouting Reports & More

Kyler Murray will at least have one person rooting for him to succeed

Kyler Murray is not your big, tall quarterback that every NFL team once dreamed of, but if he succeeds he could become the story of the newest trend in the NFL.

The NFL Draft is over, and the Arizona Cardinals did what everyone was expecting them to do. They drafted Kyler Murray with the first overall pick. Many thought for sure he would be the selection and the Cardinals made it a reality. While many Cardinals fans were wondering what was going on, they seemed to be happy with their first overall selection. With the season about to start now, there is one person who is hoping that Kyler Murray succeeds at the next level. That player is Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovalia, and here is why.

Tua Tagovailoa is on track to become an early selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, but the Alabama quarterback still has something he cannot control weighing over him. His size…..

Kyler Murray weighed in at 5-foot-10 1/8 and 207 pounds with 9 4/8 hands and 28 4/8 arms and left Indianapolis as the top candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft. He didn’t participate in any other drills or testing.

Tua Tagovailoa was measured during the Crimson Tide’s pro day for rising seniors and juniors, and according to Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy, the Alabama quarterback stands at 6-foot 2/8 and 230 pounds with 10 1/8 hands and 30 6/8 arms.

Last season, the dual-threat quarterback nearly won the Heisman Trophy in his first season as the starter. He finished the year with 3,966 passing yards, 43 touchdowns, and only six interceptions, so why should size matter?

The NFL is a copy cat league. Let me explain. If Kyler Murray comes to Arizona and shines, guess what is going to happen? Every team in the NFL is going to want a Kyler Murray. Look at Sean McVay at the Los Angeles Rams. McVay a young, offensive-minded coach went to Los Angeles and turned Jared Goff and the Rams into a high powered offense. NFL teams noticed the trend and ran out to find their offensive-minded prodigy. Shoot they were interviewing anyone who worked with McVay. The NFL does not know how to start a trend, but if something works they all jump on board.

The Browns drafted a shorter quarterback in Baker Mayfield, the Browns won a game. The next year, the Cardinals draft a shorter quarterback. If Kyler Murray works out, it is not just a huge push for Tua, but for every small quarterback who was told they were not tall enough. Kyler Murray has some big shoes to fill but if he can every small quarterback will thank him for it, especially the kid at Bama.
