NFL Draft, NFL Trade Rumors, Scouting Reports & More

The NFL Draft is over, but I still have not got a call; What does that mean?

The Draft is over, but I never got a call. Who should I blame? Everyone right? WRONG

I wanted to write an article because I have been getting blown up by some pretty solid football players. Everyone is hitting the panic button saying they should have been drafted, and they are the best players out there. Listen, I get it you are upset. You can be, but before you start to play the blame game, let’s look at a few things.

First off, What were your times? I have to ask this because so many guys are saying they ran a 4.5 or they were the fastest guys at their workouts, yet when I call NFL teams and ask them the times they have on you, they are telling me 4.7’s, 4.8’s and 4.9’s.

Listen look around at some of the best players still available, then look at their times. It is not an agent’s fault. It is not your coaches fault. It is not your trainer’s fault. I have to say this because if you run a 4.8 you just are not fast. If you run a 4.9, you are slower than the guy who ran a 4.8. I am sorry I have to be blunt because I have answered 300 questions concerning this exact topic in the past 8 days.

The NFL does not care how great your film is if you are a slow as dirt. They do not care if you are super slow if you fit their team mold for a certain position. It is simple folks, not everyone is made for the NFL. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but someone has too.

Stop listening to your parents blaming everyone, stop listening to your friends who are sitting at home and saying you are a draft pick because you had a draft grade on NFL Draft Scout. Look players it is simple, take responsibility. You are not a bad player, but you need to work on your speed.

I would not stop pursuing a dream, but I would evaluate what is out there. Right now, the CFL is about to lockout, and the Indoor Football League and Arena Football League are cranking up. Maybe you should try out for one of those leagues. It is never over, but your chances of getting called by an NFL team are slim right now.

Most of the NFL teams had their minicamps this week and filled out their rosters. Injuries happen, and I am not telling you to stop dreaming but don’t waste your time either. You are only young once, do not sit around all year and think next year after working out all year you will get a shot. It does not work like that. You need film. So please, stop blaming others, and prove to NFL scouts that they made a mistake. Take a different route, there are many routes that will lead you to the NFL, ask Kurt Warner.
