13-year-old football phenom killed by a stray bullet in Illinois

One of the biggest rising phenom athletes in high school was killed last night by a stray bullet. Please pray for his family, after suffering such a tragic loss.

Jaylon McKenzie the young football star featured in a November Sports Illustrated article titled, ‘Six teens who will rule the future in sports” was killed last night in Illinois.

According to KSDK, McKenzie was attending a party in Venice, Illinois when a fight occurred. McKenzie stepped outside to leave the party and was hit by a stray bullet.

Although he had yet to finish eighth grade, McKenzie was making waves around league circles. Illinois and Missouri had already offered McKenzie, who starred for the East St. Louis Jr. Flyers.
