33 players who were not invited to the Combine were drafted; 117 who went did not get drafted

33 players who weren’t invited to the NFL Combine were drafted.
117 players who participated in the NFL Combine went undrafted.

How important is it for a player to receive a scouting combine invite? Well many believe it is the most important thing, and they flaunt on their social media accounts that they were invited. Well this year, the numbers show it does not always matter if you get a NFL Scouting Combine invite.

Agent Mike McCartney posted this tweet today and it was a huge hit for me. 33 players (Basically an entire round in the NFL Draft) were drafted who did not attend the NFL Scouting Combine. That is pretty impressive. The crazy thing is 117 players who did receive an invite went undrafted. The NFL is slowly changing.

Remember almost 20 percent of the NFL is made up of undrafted free agents. So many players go undrafted and fight their way on to a spot. The crazy thing is of the 254 players drafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, many will be released before week 1 of the NFL Draft. It happens every year folks, you do not have to a big time prospect with big time invites to All-Star Games and Combines to get drafted. You just have to show up and show out when you get an opportunity.
