Johnny Manziel to the AAF could be happening, will the attendance grow if he is signed?

Johnny Manziel could end up in the AAF after all. I want to know if he will help the attendance grow?

Johnny Manziel could definitely improve the attendance of the AAF, because he is the big named quarterback the league is still searching for. Yesterday, Manziel was released from the Montreal Alouettes, and barred from the CFL after he failed to meet with requirements of his contract.

Manziel was linked to the AAF yesterday, and now it sounds as if it is in fact true. Manziel’s rights are owned by the San Antonio Commanders, but Manziel was in fact offered a workout by the AAF.

Darryl Moose Johnston the Commanders general manager said the Commanders have not had direct contact with Manziel or his representation. Johnston spoke to league chairman Tom Dundon on Wednesday.

“He was the one who informed me yesterday of what happened and that Johnny Manziel was now available,” Johnston said. “He just said, ‘He belongs to you in San Antonio, so what are your thoughts?’ I said, ‘Let’s just sit back and see what the league thinks, and we’ll move ahead from there.’ We’re in a holding pattern right now here locally.”

Tom Dundon told USA Today Sports that Manziel has in fact been given the opportunity to work out for teams.

“Right now, it’s a decision of the GMs, and they can decide what they want to do,” Dundon told USA TODAY Sports.

“If talent-wise this is close, the negative of him is that there is drama with him and you are trying to win games and build a team. The positive is that he brings in fans and attention.”
