Positives: Okayheight, adequate frame, decent arm length, has okay foot speed at the snap,shows adequate mental processing to locate the ball against the run. Has goodlateral quickness to pursue the ball with good angles on run plays towards theperimeter, relies on his eyes & quickness to move through traffic while inpursuit. Relies on his hands & leverage to disengage from blockers. Is aquick blitzer off the edge in pass situations, tackles the ball carrier withdecent wrap-up ability. Shows some drop back ability in zone coverage, breakson the ball well to the flats in his coverage assignments.
Negatives: Canhesitate on his first step after the snap when locating the ball, can overpursue & get caught in the mix at times while finding the ball againstcounter runs. Tends to keep a high pad level when engaged with blockers, is notvery quick to disengage from blockers, can look lost at times while in zonecoverage. Production level was inconsistent due to a hand injury & acoaching change.
Summary: A two-yearparticipant for head coach Willie Simmons & defensive coordinator RalphStreet at Florida A&M after stints at Feather River College (JUCO) &Hocking (JUCO). Hazly was used on the edge & in the middle as an MLB in theBulls’ 4-3 defensive scheme. Is an LB that uses mental processing, quickness, hands,and leverage to pursue the ball, but needs to show that he can play with alower pad level & fluidity in zone coverage. Will also need to show that hecan shed blockers at a faster rate with more hand speed. Will fit with a teamwith a defensive scheme that utilizes 4-3 & man coverage concepts. Coulddevelop into a serviceable player while contributing on special teams.
