Diamond Report
In The Pass Game:
Fernandez has some of the best sideline presence of any small schooler & right up there with some of the best overall. The ideal position would be in the slot or Y as a Pro. He can make the contested grabs in the passing game. Insane sideline ball & foot awareness use the sideline to his advantage making the quick slant grabs to stop the clock or box out defenders. Not afraid to go up or across the middle. Tough, after the catch bounces off tacklers. Slants, flag & crossing routes is an area of strength for Ryan. Good change of direction & short area burst which is an attribute needed to play slot at any pro level. Fernandez has the ability to come back off routes known to catch underthrown passes make tough grabs with his strong hands. Seems to excel on the right side of the field makes plays on the left but he is better on the right or across the middle. Tracks the ball well with timing physicality to win 50/50 battles. Very good understanding of routes breaks off routes with good speed urgency makes tough grabs on bad throws. Runs every route in the route tree seamlessly.
Special Teams & Blocking
A special team standout out on kickoffs explodes covering kick returns always one of the first down the field. Ability to find the ball carrier on returns uses his explosiveness to make tackles. He knows how to utilize the sideline on ST too, Boxing returners out tackling or running them out of bounds. Returning kicks he can navigate his way through traffic maintaining speed as he zigs n zags through gaps. As a Special
