Family of Small School Football player who committed suicide will donate brain for concussion studies
Richmond Football team lost a great kid earlier this week to suicide per multiple reports. Augustus “Gus” Lee was found dead in his snow-covered car just off the Richmond Campus at 1:35am on December 11th, according to the police report.
The cause of death per the Medical Examiners was suicide by asphyxiation. Lee was just 20 years old.
Lee was a redshirt freshman who walked on as a wide receiver and recently transitioned to defensive back where he earned some playing time on Special Teams for the Spiders.
Lee’s family will now donate his brain to Boston University-Concussion Legacy Foundation Brain Bank, a repository of more than 650 donations established to study traumatic brain injuries and the neurodegenerative illness chronic traumatic encephalopathy or CTE.
