NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Donnell Bonds, DT, Fairmont State University
NFL Draft Diamonds has interviewed some of the best small schoolers to make it to the NFL. Last year our team interviewed over 750 players from NAIA to the FBS. This year we went to NFL teams scouts for every question on this interview. Ten NFL scouts who are avid readers of Draft Diamonds put this interview together for our reader’s pleasure. - I live in a very small town in Welch, WV. The thing I love about my hometown is my family I get to go home and enjoy when I do and also the younger kids that look up and admire me!
- Strength and conditioning because You must be in great shape to play this game this helps you keep going when everyone else can’t or it gives you that extra energy and push in the fourth when your opponents are tired. Film study is second because you must know what’s coming your way by studying film it will make thing slower in the game because you know what’s about to come at you. Last is practice because practice helps make perfect practice teach you techniques and how to take on blocks that are coming your way so you can be ready for everything you see on film.
- I worry about missing out on opportunities! There’s always guys that have the same dream I have and is out there working as hard as I am. That’s why I try to take advantage of every and any opportunity I get!
- Going into my junior year of college football I was supposed to start but we got another coach and I didn’t start so I just keep going harder and doing extra after practice and workouts to get better than in the middle of the season I started and finished out starting!
- I have a great work ethic and I am not selfish they like how I’d do anything to help the team be the best and win

- I would love to be coaching or having my own sports facilities to help kids train and get better at the game they love.

- I love to help anyone so it would be nice to save all but I’d have to say my family member because family means the world to me!
- Martin Lawrence because he’s super funny in all of his movies and he always makes me laugh. He is also upbeat and always positive and that’s the life I like to live.
- In elementary when I tried out for basketball and my coach told me I didn’t have the grades to play and ever since then I’ve always maintained good grades and I think that has helped me throughout life.
- In middle school basketball, we got the tip-off and I grabbed the ball then ran and shot it in the wrong Basket.

- My Granny because she was a very strong lady and anytime I needed anything I could always depend on her she has been the reason I have succeeded as far as I have today!

- Respected because anyone can be liked but that doesn’t mean they will respect you
- Ray Rice because he was a great NFL Player and could have gone down as one of the best in the world but let an off-field issue affect his career.

- My granny because she has always pushed me no matter what if I complained about something to her she would tell me there’s nothing wrong! She was a very strong lady that’s why I stay strong because I saw her do it!
