Super Bowl LII | Town Pride vs The History Books
Super Bowl LII is a freight train of excitement coming down the tracks at full speed just a few blocks away. There are doubters, haters, those looking for a legacy and those looking for revenge. Start running now to get up to speed to grab ahold of this train, or get the heck out of the way!
There has been drama surrounding the game since its inception after the AFC and NFC Championship games. Will Gronk play or will he not. Is Brady’s hand going to be 100%? Lane Johnson calling Brady a ‘Pretty Boy’ that he’d like to dethrone. Philly fans still hold a grudge for that 2004 Super Bowl loss to the Patriots at the hands of Bill and Tom …… and apparently, so do Eagles players who had nothing to do with the franchise at the time. The guys coming out of the Eagles locker room have been quite vocal about the fact that they are gunning for Brady –– and it seems more so Tom Brady that New England as a unit. Eagles Safety, Malcolm Jennings stated, “Greatest quarterback of all time, but that doesn’t mean he’s unbeatable.”
Well if history has shown me one thing, it’s in the world of professional sports, he who runs his mouth the most usually ends up getting popped in the jaw and looking like an idiot for talking so much trash. Personally, I don’’ t have any emotional investment in either of these teams and I know it may seem a bit trite, but I can find reasons to cheer for both sides in this Super Bowl.
It would be great to see Nick Foles lead the Eagles to a ring in the role of the backup, come-back-kid and in a lot of ways, it would mean much more to the town of Philadelphia. It’s been a while …… though the Eagles have three National Titles, they’ve never won the Super Bowl. On the Patriots side, this game alone isn’t as important to the greater New England as it is to the People East Pennsylvania. But this game stacked on top of all the others in this dynasty becomes something legendary …… something epic that franchises years into the future would strive for. To tie the Steelers for most all-time wins and achieve six rings under the very same Head Coach and the very same QB. It is something that very well will never happen again …… ever. So, yeah …… trite as it seems, I’ll clap for whoever wins in this one.
Making the situation more interesting is the fact that the Patriots opened as 6-point favorites and were quickly bet down to just 4.5-point favorites. They also started out as –– 230 favorites at some outlets (risk $2.30 to win $1) and are now all the way down to ––175 to win outright. The public is behind Philly and they are putting their money where their mouth is. This will be the first time that since the Pats we’re upset by the G-Men that the Public is actually against them.
The Super Bowl Props are starting to get released and can you guess who the odds-on favorite is for Super Bowl LII MVP? Sorry, Lane …… it’s Pretty Boy, Tom Brady at –– 130. Foles is next in line at 3.5 to 1, Gronk in the number three slot at 112 to 1 (so Vegas is pretty sure he’ll get cleared)!
The novelty props are great, with lines on things like, 1st player or coach close—— up during national anthem: hand over heart or no. No hand over heart is a staggering –– 220 favorite! How about whether or not Pink displays cleavage during the anthem? Odds are on her keeping it clean (-550). What color of Gatorade will cool off either Bill Belichick or Doug Pederson after winning the game? Blue leads the way for the high-quality, electrolytes-filled, colored H20 to get dumped on the coach at +250!
