Player Comparisons: The Top 5 QB’s in the class compare to…WHO?

Quarterback – Comparing the Quarterbacks in the 2018 NFL Draft by Austin Guptel

Josh Allen – Jake Locker: When looking at Josh Allen, it is easy to fall in love with the physical tools he possesses. However, Allen will need to continue to progress mentally and develop his footwork to become a successful NFL quarterback. Though Locker may have never reached his potential, it is hard to deny Allen has all the tools necessary to become an elite NFL quarterback. Allen remains the most “high-risk, high-reward” quarterback in this class.

Baker Mayfield – Russell Wilson: There is no denying Mayfield has been the most productive quarterback in this. Mayfield has a sneaky strong arm and can continue to improve that as he incorporates more leg drive into his throwing motion. This arm talent, leadership, and ability to extend plays, make Wilson an easy comparison for Mayfield.

Sam Darnold – Andrew Luck: When watching Darnold, it is hard to ignore how well he can anticipate throws. Darnold opens up throwing lanes with his eyes and has the arm strength to make any throw on the field. Similar to Luck, Darnold is a solid athlete with an excellent frame and has the makeup you covet for a franchise quarterback.

Josh Rosen – Jay Cutler: Rosen’s demeanor and arm talent “scream” Jay Cutler. While many question Rosen’s abilities to effectively lead a team, he remains one of the best pure passers in this draft. Rosen has smooth mechanics and advanced pocket presence for an incoming NFL quarterback.

Lamar Jackson – Michael Vick: Jackson is a unique talent and a dynamic athlete. Though he struggles with accuracy, Jackson has the ability to take over a game with his legs. The team drafting Jackson will certainly have to refine their offense to cater to his needs and allow him to be successful
