NFL Draft, NFL Trade Rumors, Scouting Reports & More

NFL Trade Deadline is Tuesday at 4 pm; Five trades I could see happen

The NFL Trade deadline is nearing and several players could be shopped before Tuesday’s, four O’clock deadline.  Some NFL teams are already counting themselves out of the mix for the playoffs, while others could see the playoffs for the first time in a very long time.  The trade deadline could become a busy day, but I would not expect too many deals to be made.  I could see a handful or more, and here are a few I could see made before the end of the day.

New Orleans Saints defensive end HAU’OLI KIKAHA traded to Houston Texans for a future 6th round pick

New Orleans’ second round pick (44th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft, Kikaha made an immediate impact on the Saints defense, starting the first six games of his rookie campaign and 10 overall, while playing in 15 games. Right now the Texans are banged up on the defensive line and Kikaha could be an immediate impact player.  For a future sixth round pick the Texans would be silly not to give that up for a former second round pick.

Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Cordy Glenn is shipped to the Arizona Cardinals for a third round compensatory pick they will receive for losing Calais Campbell

The Buffalo Bills have been selling players left and right this year.  At the beginning of the year, many fans thought for sure they were doomed, but surprisingly they have been just fine.  The Bills are now making another move at creating space by sending their best offensive lineman to the Cardinals for a 3rd round pick.  The 3rd round pick is a Comp pick, which is basically like a fourth round pick for a 28 year old left tackle. Glenn’s contract keeps him locked in for several years and this is a win/win. Bills clear space and add another 3rd round pick in 2018.

Indianapolis Colts trade CB Vontae Davis to the San Francisco 49ers for RB Carlos Hyde

The Colts need a running back and the 49ers could use some corner help. This trade just makes sense to me.  Carlos Hyde is not getting the carries he deserves and in Indianapolis he is the heir apparent to replace the aging Frank Gore.  I think Hyde could dominate in Indianapolis, and the 49ers in return get a very solid veteran cornerback.

Steelers trade WR Martavis Bryant to the Giants for CB Dominique Rodgers Cromartie and a conditional 6th round pick

The New York Giants need a wide out, shoot they need five.  Martavis Bryant is a big time play maker and he wants to play for a team that will use him.  Shoot the New York Giants will use and abuse him.  They need help so bad, this makes tons of sense.  The Steelers do not really need Dominique Rodgers Cromartie but he is thrown in with a conditional sixth round pick.  The Steelers feel they make out on this deal, and it gives Eli a weapon.

Patriots trade a 2nd round pick in 2018 to the Detroit Lions for the rights of Calvin Johnson

Bob Quinn and Bill Belichick are friends, they were former co-workers, and Bob Quinn can get a free draft pick.  Not just any draft pick, a 2nd round pick in 2018.  The Patriots can give Calvin Johnson something he has never had.  An opportunity to work with one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game.  This move pisses me off, but I can see it happening.  The Rich get Richer, we should be use to this already, but if you think for a second the Lions are talking about trading Calvin Johnson and the Patriots are not interested, you are crazy.
