Joe Namath apologizes for his tweet asking the Jets to bench Fitzpatrick

Rex Ryan hopes the Jets lose Ryan Fitzpatrick to Free Agency
Ryan Fitzpatrick makes Joe Namath apologize by playing good in the second half against the Browns

The New York Jets were down 20-7 at halftime against the Browns when Jets legend Joe Namath decided to tweet that the Jets need to bench Ryan Fitzpatrick.

That was when Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets woke up and clapped back to win 31-28.  Today Joe Namath is apologizing for his comments.

“I do feel ashamed for doing it,” Namath said. “It breaks a kind of team-player code. No good could come of it. You’ve got to give trust to the coaching staff and the players. They want to win so badly. And they’re obligated to playing their best players at all times. I’ve got to remind myself: I haven’t even seen Petty play. Fitz is the best we have to get out there and win. I lost trust or I forgot that fact.”
