NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes: Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma St

2017 NFL Draft Scouting Notes.Mason Rudolph. QB. 6’5 235 Lbs.(Junior) Oklahoma St.

The Positives.

1) Good NFL Size

2) Good pocket awareness

3) Good arm strength

4) Good accuracy

The Negatives.

1) Tends to lead relievers into big hits too often

2) Not a mobile QB

Mason Rudolph is a player with all of the intangibles. He stands at 6’5 235 Lbs, and has a good (but not great) arm. He plays with decent fundamentals most of the time, squaring his hips and stepping into his throws. His accuracy is usually very good on both medium and deep passes. He has shown the ability to go through his progression, going to his 2nd or 3rd read. Rudolph plays with good pocket awareness, feeling the pressure and stepping around it. He has some ability to evade the rush but he is not a scrambling QB. He does seem to lead his receivers into a big hit too frequently. Last year Rudolph completed 62% of his throws for 3,770 yards. 21 TD’s and 9 INT’s. Mason Rudolph has the size NFL general managers covet, and promising arm talent to go with it. With a productive season, showing some of his bad habits have been coached out of him, and leading his team to some wins, Rudolph may find himself being drafted in the early rounds of the draft should he so choose to enter.
