Chadron State offensive lineman pronounced dead after collapsing on field

Chadron State College Eagles freshman Eric Goll had to be taken from the practice field to Chadron Community Hospital, school officials said in a statement. Medical staff pronounced Goll dead at around 12:30 p.m.

Goll’s autopsy Friday morning at Regional West Medical Center showed he had an enlarged heart, according to Dawes County Attorney Vance Haug. The condition “likely contributed to his sudden and unexpected death,” Haug said in a statement, according to NY Daily News.

College football player Eric Goll, 20, was pronounced dead after practice at Chadron State College on Thursday.

“Additional testing and toxicological screening are being performed as part of the investigation to determine the specific cause of death,” Haug said.

Chadron State is the home of Danny Woodhead the San Diego Chargers running back.
