Drew Brees says he has not heard from the Saints in months regarding a new contract

Could Drew Brees play this week for the Saints? He will test his arm out today

Drew Brees and the Saints have had ongoing talks regarding and extension, but something is holding the talks up

Drew Brees is looking for a new contract, but the Saints gunslinger has not heard anything in several months. According to Mike Triplett of ESPN, Brees has not talked to anyone in New Orleans regarding a new deal since March.

“Not sure why things have not progressed,” Brees told ESPN’s Mike Triplett. “They made an offer in March, we made an offer shortly thereafter. And beside the Josh Normal deal [the Saints asked Brees if we would restructure his contract so the team would have enough salary cap room to Norman in], there has been no talk about a contract since.”

Brees says there’s still time for the team to make a deal before the regular season.

“I would say the dealine is the start of the regular season, not training camp,” Brees said.
