Many NFL teams look at compensatory picks as a free gift. Teams like the Ravens and Broncos do good every year at acquiring compensatory picks, and today is a big day because teams can sign players and it will not go against the formula.
This date use to be June 1st but was pushed back to May 12th, so veterans could sign a deal and still get to OTA’s to learn the system. Tons of players were officially released from their teams yesterday as they were not given a contract on the NFL Transactions list. There are some good players on that list, but any player who was not signed by today such as Anquan Boldin, will not help a team like the Niners gain anything if he is signed today. So this basically means that those veteran type players could be getting a call anything soon.
I would not be surprised to see the Bills make a call to Boldin, who has worked with Greg Roman in the past and also has time spent with Tyrod in Baltimore.
