Biggest Winners and Biggest Losers of Day 2

I could sit here and ramble on and on about who had a great draft. Many teams did well, but there are only a few players and teams that I feel won big time yesterday.  So that does not mean that I do not like your team’s draft, but rather I did not want to bother you by posting a thousand things about the picks so far.  Here is what we think at Draft Diamonds.

Biggest Winners (Players edition)

Christian Hackenberg – The Penn State quarterback was drafted by the Jets who desperately need a quarterback, he and his bank account won, but he is horrible. I think the Jets just hit the panic button because the situation with Ryan Fitzpatrick. Right now the Jets best QB is Bryce Petty.

Jaylon Smith – The Notre Dame linebacker was a top 10 player in the NFL Draft. He will go to a team that can sit him and when he returns he will be on a competitor.  Jaylon Smith to the Cowboys was a great pick.  I love it.

Roberto Aguayo – I was a former kicker and this pick is a special pick. Everyone is talking trash about the Buccaneers trading up in the draft for him, but he is the best in the draft, and they have an inconsistency there.  I love this pick. It was worth the trade for me.

Biggest Winners (Teams Edition)

Minnesota Vikings – They only had two picks on Day 1 and 2.  They traded their third round pick and landed three picks from the Dolphins. I love Laquon Treadwell with Teddy Bridgewater and Mackensie Alexander from Clemson.  Alexander is a stud and I love this kid.  He will be a stud opposite of Trae Waynes.

Jacksonville Jaguars/Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans – These teams have been picking high for the past several years, and they finally get it. It will not be long and these teams will be on top. The Jaguars had the steal of the draft with Myles Jack in the second round.  I had him going there number 5 overall.  The Raiders keep getting stars, I love the Shilique Calhoun pick, and the Titans land Derrick Henry. These teams finally get it.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – As you know I love the Roberto Aguayo pick, then you give a team that is better from Free Agency, Vernon Hargreaves, Noah Spence and the best kicker in the draft. I love it.  Jason Licht has this team on the brink. It will not be long and they will be the PLAYOFF Contending Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Biggest Losers (Players and Teams)

Connor Cook – I love this kid, I do not get how this kid falls. People are saying he is cocky, but guess what I love cockiness.  A cocky quarterback is a great quarterback.  Remember this the 49ers passed on Aaron Rodgers because he was cocky.  This kid slipped but someone will snag him.

New England Patriots – The Patriots did not have a first round pick, then when they had an opportunity to finally draft someone they reached.  Their first pick they selected Cyrus Jones a converted WR who plays DB.  Then they took two straight NC State players, including their quarterback who is a huge project.  Then the team selected Vincent Valentine. The guy sounds like a porn star, I hope he can play football. They use analytics, so it will be interesting to see how they pan out.

Los Angeles Rams – The Rams have tons of holes, yet after 60 plus picks they only have Jared Goff.  This hurts bad, and I think it is a huge loss.  The team needs to acquire more picks and draft some help for Goff.
