According to Dianne Marie Russini of ESPN, the Washington Redskins are expected to inform Robert Griffin III aka RG3 that he will be released today by the team.

The Redskins are informing RG3 today they are releasing him per sources.
RG3 played college football at Baylor, where he won the 2011 Heisman Trophy, and was drafted by the Redskins second overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. Griffin won the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award
