There is now a report that former Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith was made aware of the firing via the telephone. That definitely makes things worse in my opinion.
I don’t know how the Glazer’s conduct business, but they didn’t hire Lovie Smith over the phone. The staff brought him in and talked with him. They sat him down and conducted multiple interviews. So to fire him they should have had enough class to do the same thing. Bring him in and tell him face to face they were firing him. That was a low blow, and a huge slap in the face to a very well and respected individual.
#Bucs informed Lovie Smith he was fired when he received a phone call at home.
