NFL Draft Diamonds and our staff have been bringing our readers Prospect Interviews over the past 2 years and this year we mixed up the questions and added some fun questions for our readers. We have tons of NFL staff that read our interviews, and we actually received several of the questions from NFL scouts we speak too. This gives them a little bit more information regarding your character. We hope to bring you more than 300 interviews of NFL Draft Prospects this season. You will be able to track them all on the front page of our website in the banner.

What is your name?

Nick Coy

What is your Height/Weight?

6’6 300lbs

What is your position?

OT

Where do you play college football?

Minnesota State University Mankato

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

Went to hang out with kids at an elementary school during their lunch and recess and played games with them.

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

The hardest class I ever took was microeconomics.

Where are you from?

St. Paul Park, Minnesota

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is my mom because I would not be where I am now if it wasn’t for her. She always pushes me to do my best so I can have a better life than my parents had/have.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I played baseball from t-ball through 18U traveling, and 2 seasons of basketball.

Did you play any other positions in football?

In high school I started both ways as Defensive end and Tight end, then converted to Offensive Right Tackle as a freshman in college, but also have played left.

At your position, what separates you from others?

I feel like I have very good awareness and play with relentless effort on every play. I was coached to always hustle down field because the ball could pop out at any time.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

When I watch film I always look for the opponents main moves (spin, push pull, bull rush, hand swat etc..) And focus on one thing each practice to work on in preparation (footwork, hand placement, timing etc..)

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

I would like to compare myself to/model myself after Matt Birk, he was an amazing team player and always put the team first, was a great all around player and person.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was my College Access Program, it was 15 credits in 8 weeks and I had to do it to get in to MNSU, I wanted to quit because of how hard it was but my mom supported me and wouldn’t let me. We talked through everything each day and she helped me get through it. I ended up completing it with a 4.0 and academic honors.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

Listen to rock music.

What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strengths are my attitude and my effort. I always try to have a positive attitude and encourage my teammates when things are going good or bad. And I always try to give my best effort on each play.

What is your biggest weakness?

My biggest weakness would be on paper I’m not the strongest or fastest player, but feel like I make up for it with my effort and determination.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

If I had to sell myself, like I previously said, I’m not the fastest on the field or strongest in the weight room, but I have good awareness and am a heads up player who has a positive attitude and always gives 100% effort from snap to whistle.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

My favorite player growing up was Chris Carter and my favorite team was/is the Vikings. (We’re in a rebuilding decade)

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

I would choose Chris Farley because I think he is hilarious, Ronda Rousey because I love UFC and watching her fight, and Brett Favre because I loved watching him play and love wrangler jeans. (Forever a Viking).

What will be the first big item you buy once you are in the NFL?

The first thing I will buy is a new truck, a Chevy 2500HD with a 6 inch lift and 37′ tires.
