Center and Guard

Where do you play college football?

Kansas University

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

While attending Kansas University, I took the time to help special needs children learn how to play football, and conduct drills with them. I also spent time with third and fourth graders playing sports, and assisting them in their class rooms.

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Sociology of emigration

Where are you from?

Baltimore, Maryland

Who is your role model, and why?

My father and my mother because they showed me the meaning of perseverance and determination through their actions in some difficult situations. No matter what they faced, they were still able to take care of me and my brother and sisters. Their work ethic, resilience, and commitment to honoring their word will always be a part of me, and I’ve incorporated them into my life and want to teach others the same.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Lacrosse, Street hockey, Basketball, Baseball

keyon haughtonDid you play any other positions in football?

Every slot on the offensive line, right and left. Defensive Tackle as well in HS.

At your position, what separates you from others?

I have not given up a sack since the 11th grade, and I can lead (anchor) an offensive line. I totally understand that I am (by default) the “other” leader of the offense.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

Tendencies of players on the defensive line (hand placement, footwork, speed, feature moves, etc.)

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

In the Big12, I faced a number of tough players, so I really couldn’t just pick one. I felt like they were all good defensive players.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Maurkice Pouncey because of the way he gets off the ball and attack the second level defenders; how fast he gets out in front when leading for the running back, and his toughness towards the game.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

Getting over the loss of my brother back in 2009. You never get over something like that. You just find peace with it and move forward. Football helped me through it.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

NO

What is your biggest strength?

Run blocking and Pass protection

What is your biggest weakness?

I demand perfection from myself and am my own worst critic.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I am one of only a handful of linemen that hasn’t given up a sack at any slot on the offensive since high school, and I will do everything to show you that picking me was the right choice for your organization.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

Green Bay

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

My brother EJ, My uncle Kevin, and Gene Upshaw
