Today the Indianapolis Colts released Griff Whalen their former punt returner and wide out from the injured reserve.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Whalen played in 14 games for the Colts this season and caught 19 passes for 205 yards and one touchdown. He also had 12 punt returns for 85 yards (7.1 average) and nine kickoff returns for 244 yards (27.1 average).

Whalen has seen action in 33 career NFL games (three starts), with 45 receptions for 487 yards and three touchdowns, 46 punt returns for 376 yards (8.2 average) and 25 kickoff returns for 645 yards (25.8 average). He has appeared in two postseason games (one start) for the Colts and totaled seven catches for 93 yards, two punt returns for six yards and one kickoff return for 16 yards.
