Washington Redskins have signed running back Pierre Thomas; Place DT Paea on I/R
The Washington Redskins announced the signing of veteran RB Pierre Thomas on Friday. The Redskins also placed DT Stephen Paea on season-ending injured reserve.
Thomas, 31, spent one week with the San Francisco 49ers earlier this year, carrying four times for 12 yards.
The signing could indicate the Redskins might be without scat back Chris Thompson for this week and possibly longer. Thompson is dealing with a torn labrum in his shoulder.
The 30-year-old Thomas has run for 3,757 yards and 28 touchdowns in the NFL and has 327 catches for 2,608 yards and 12 TDs. His top rushing season came in 2009, when he gained 793 yards.
The Redskins are averaging 94.2 yards rushing per game, 26th in the NFL.
