Eagles snag Steven Means off the Texans practice squad

Yesterday, the Philadelphia Eagles released Miles Austin opening up a roster spot. Today the team filled the spot, by swiping a player off the practice squad of the Houston Texans. The Philadelphia Eagles announced Tuesday that they’ve signed LB Steven Means off of the Houston Texans’ practice squad.

At 6-3 and 263 pounds with 4.6 speed in the 40-yard dash, Means projects to outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme and defensive end in a 4-3 scheme. Having played in 11 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012 and 2013, Means has six career tackles since being drafted in the fifth round in 2012.

At the University at Buffalo, Means had 185 career tackles, 29.5 for losses, 18.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions and five blocked kicks.
