NFL suspends Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith for one year

Today the NFL suspended Oakland Raiders outside linebacker Aldon Smith for a year. Smith was arrested in August and is now just getting punished by the NFL.

Mike Garafolo reports that Smith’s suspension starts right now and is for a calendar year.

Garafolo adds that Smith’s suspension is for a violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy following his DUI arrest this summer.
