Giants place TE Daniel Fells on I/R with a nasty staph infection in his ankle
Giants place TE Daniel Fells on I/R with a nasty staph infection in his foot. Doctor’s are hoping to save his foot.

The NFL and the New York Giants could be facing a major lawsuit if Doctor’s are not able to fix Daniel Fells foot. The tight end is in a “dire situation” according to Ian Rapoport as he fights a MRSA infection in his foot.

According to Rapoport, Fells has already undergone five surgeries since he contracted the MRSA infection, and more surgeries are expected, as doctors try to prevent further infection.

Rapoport mentions that doctors are fighting to save Fells’ foot, which is at risk, considering the seriousness of this type of infection. Doctors are still hoping to avoid amputating his foot, but the fear with this type of infection is that it could get into the bone and travel into his blood.

This would be a huge loss to Fells and the entire NFL.  This is not the first time a player has contracted MRSA. It is a very serious infection, and NFL teams have been having the problem lately. The Buccaneers entire facility was cleaned after Connor Barth and others were infected last year.
