Michael Gehlken of the Union-Tribune San Diego reports that the Chargers are waiving S Adrian Phillips on Monday to clear a roster spot for TE Antonio Gates. Gates

This will be huge for the Chargers. Gates is still a top 5 tight end in the NFL.
